WATSONYOUTH - <Seems the TRUE .18um GROUNDRULE process (they indeed have one) isn't due out for maybe 2-4 months. Apparently, Motorola (refering to the gate level only) is trying to dupe the naive into thinking this may be a .18um GROUNDRULE process by calling it a .18um micron (.15 micron L effective) copper HiPerMOS process.> This is all VERY VERY VERY interesting! I won't bother with comment, because if you've been following what I've been saying, you all know what I would say anyway. And if you all haven't been following what I've been saying, why would you start now? :-) PB

It is becoming clear that the old terms used to describe a process generation just don't mean anything anymore. A .25u process may have .18u channel lengths and < .15u leff. So what is it? EP
