Plus Marvin, you're raving elsewhere (correctly) about it being the greatest thing since cheese whiz. How do you reconcile that?

Qwik, MSFT following the leader, SUNW:

Microsoft to put office software on Net

LONDON (CBS.MW) -- Microsoft will makes its office software available through the Internet, according to a report in Friday's Financial Times. The news follows Sun Microsystem's announcement that it will provid word processing, spreadsheet and other applications on the Internet for free.>>

Yes Qwik, they are playing right into SUNW's hands. This can only help SUNW's strategy of selling more "big iron" which is their avowed reason for StarOffice. Actually SUNW has revealed itself a master Chess player. If MSFT didn't follow SUNW's lead they stood to loss market share. If they did follow SUNW's lead, they help support the NC. Just what SUNW wants. MSFT, however, is 350 megabits, while StarOffice is a modest 65. MSFT will have to go on a diet fast as well as learn LINUX, OS2, and Solais. Sounds like they need JAVA.

It kind of reminds me of the Tar Baby.

"Please don't put Microsoft Office on the net. Please don't put MSFT Office on the NET!!!"

Now not only will both be on the net, and soon to be a tide of others. but now safety becomes a real issue -- good bye Active X and HOTMAIL hacker paradise. It will be important for MSFT to follow SUNW's security model and we may find MSFT one of the leading proponents of security. Real security, ala SUNW.

Fred Astaire (SUNW) is leading Ginger Rogers (MSFT) very well.
(For those who haven't read SUNW's "Reality Check" commentary:

All the best,
Michael

They paid dearly because SUNW paid with stock and you know how the stock has risen.
Remember Star Division had many suitors.

Still, I believe SUNW paid and embarrassingly high price in SUNW shares for Star
Division.

Marvin, why do you believe that? Do you have any information to that effect? I haven't
seen any mention of a figure in the press, or in anything that anyone has posted.
