Maybe. But I seem to recall that quite a few people on this thread who have expressed a belief in fairies have at other times declared themselves to be atheists.

"They mostly don't think some all-powerful dude is gonna send them to hell for not accepting him, though."

A common misconception of the Christian view of God is that God is some all-powerful dude who is going to send people to hell for not accepting him. Misconceived by both many of those who call themselves 'christians' and by non-christians alike, I might add.

For the record, the correct 'standard' (or orthodox, if you prefer) reason anyone will end up in hell is as the consequence for their misdeeds (as in "the wages of sin is death"). [Side note: this can be argued on two different levels -- first is it a true statement with universal application, and second is it a true representation of Christian belief. I'm discussing it here only in the second sense.]

Where "acceptance" comes into play (actually it is not acceptance at all, but belief in -- another common misconception) is in escaping the consequences of one's misdeeds because one believes another has already paid that price and has placed one's faith in that fact.

"Most people I know who believe in (or have seen) faeries also accept the existence of gods..."

As for faeries: I live in So Cal. They are everywhere.

As for gods: We have not one but two in residence on the PABN thread.
