In Alabama it is (or was.. think still is) illegal to flick a booger in public. You could pick, but you had to stick it in your pocket, or something. Must be one of those public health issues.

My favorite professor in college was an inveterate nose picker. As he would probe and dig we would follow his actions breathlessly. Silly me, I thought he ought to know. It was before course evaluations (one student said I ought to buy some better clothes and wash my feet). But he did stop. Turned out he had many interesting things to say that we hadn't noticed.
