Well, it's been pretty quiet here at the JVWB board lately. I think investors are greatly discounting the 5% stake that JVWB has in AMP3.com. I feel that AMP3.com is going to emerge as a premier music site on the web. Already AMP3.com is beginning to get new advertisers as evidenced by my recently downloading of some MP3 files there. This is a good sign. The AMP3.com news release copied below should serve notice to musicians that AMP3.com can be very financially rewarding. One dollar to the artist per download is a very generous financial compensation to the artists. This should expand the musical talent that AMP3.com sign and in doing so, get additional advertisement dollars. AMP3.com just recently renovated their website. I wonder if JVWB played a role in this. Read the news release. I would really like to learn you thoughts as to the JVWB=AMP3.com partnership. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Tuesday August 31, 7:57 pm Eastern Time Company Press Release AMP3.COM To Implement Dollar-Per-Download Royalty Program KINGWOOD, Texas--(ENTERTAINMENT WIRE)--Aug. 31, 1999--AMP3.COM's CEO Michael Sharp stated, ''Today we strike another blow in favor of artist's rights. AMP3.COM is proud to announce an opportunity for artist's to earn more money from one song download than would be made selling an entire CD in a traditional retail outlet.'' ''Typically, when a major artist sells a CD in a record store, the artist earns approximately $.30,'' continued Sharp, ''One download from AMP3 will earn that artist $1.00.'' ''The artists that have been with AMP3.COM since the beginning know that we founded this company to create a music delivery system that generates royalities for the artist. We began by issuing a $.02 royalty for each download received, then upped the ante to $.05 per download. AMP3.COM, in its first quarter, paid artists over $35,000 in royalties. AMP3.COM's 2nd quarter of business has just ended, and we are calculating the royalty payments now. We expect to issue checks to those artist's who have earned over $50 in royalties within 60 days as per our agreement,'' stated Sharp. AMP3.COM sponsored the ''Emerging Artist Stage,'' at Woodstock '99, which exposed over 20 AMP3.COM artists to a worldwide audience via webcast. ''We intend to help further the careers of all of our artists buy bringing additional attention to our site by our continued participation in webcasting concerts, event sponsorship and direct artist development,'' stated Sharp. ''We will not be charging our listening audience to download music. For the fans, it will be business as usual here at AMP3.COM while the artists will finally be earning the income they deserve,'' continued Sharp. In order to receive the $1.00 royalty per download; an artist will have to sign a one-year exclusive contract with AMP3.COM. This exclusivity refers to all digital media sold over the Internet. Exclusivity guarantees that their music is protected against websites that do not pay for downloads. A new sign-up contract will be made available within the next seven days. AMP3.COM differentiates from the competition for market share by pre-pending a five second tag-line (a mini-commercial) to the beginning of each of its songs which are being downloaded. Advertisers are able to place their message on the hottest property on the Internet today. This unique method allows advertisers to penetrate a most highly coveted demographic. AMP3.COM competes for market share against Liquid Audio (LQID),-Music (EMUS), MP3.COM (MPPP). AMP3.COM is currently a privately held company intending to have a ublic offering mid-year 2000. ''Thank you one and all for helping AMP3.COM reach over 1,000,000 downloads. Let's take it to the next level!'' Sharp concluded.
