FCM : FRANKLIN TELECOMMUNICATIONS (AMEX) All Headlines Franklin Telecom Receives Equity Line of Credit For Up To $6.5 Million Equity Line to Secure Release of New Product Lines WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 1, 1999-- Franklin Telecom (AMEX: FCM) announced today that it has arranged an equity line of credit for up to $6,500,000 with Crescent International, Ltd. Terms of the agreement have not been disclosed. Franklin Telecom's core line of Internet Telephony products is currently centered around the Tempest(R) System, including Data Voice Gateways (DVGs) and AMAS, a unique integrated tracking, authentication and billing system. Tempest DVGs facilitate phone-to-phone and computer-to-phone connectivity for voice, data and fax; the product is comparable to, but somewhat more flexible than, some of its more widely known competitors such as Clarent (NASDAQ: CLRN), Net2Phone (NASDAQ: NTOP) or VocalTec (NASDAQ: VOCL). Franklin has announced two major new products to expand and round out their IP products. The Breeze(TM) is a 2-Port Voice/Fax Gateway with a built-in router and Debit Card billing functionality. It is smaller than a typical desktop modem and configures to accommodate central office lines, single line telephone sets, fax machines, PBX extensions or any combination of these lines and devices. The Typhoon(R) is a high-density, carrier-class solution with digital line interfaces that support T1, T1-Primary Rate ISDN, E1, E1-PRI, E1-R2; it can optionally support analog central office or telephone device lines. The Typhoon has moved away from the industry's traditional PC base in order to enhance product reliability and allow for greater port density. It supports all major interface standards, including H.323, INow!, and MGCP. Franklin's President Peter Buswell commented, "With both the Breeze and Typhoon products scheduled to begin shipping before the end of the calendar year, this is a time of significant expansion for Franklin. This equity line of credit will help ensure that we can complete the necessary ramp-up and bring these new products to market on schedule."
