Jon, I am assuming you understand that we like the brokerages BECAUSE they are down big time. . . it will be a while before the regional banks get their own online trading and upset the apple cart. . . but meanwhile, the volatility I expect the rest of 1999 should be a windfall to the brokerage industry. . . sorry folks, I don't see an end to the wash and rinse cycle. . .just that as of a few days ago, we have a buoyancy in the markets that favor the bulls. . .

In my opinion. . .

The summer bear is officially over. . . .and the pumpkins are ripe on the vine. . . just like I predicted.

So I believe that there will be an event in the coming weeks that will touch off a big rally in the brokerage stocks. . . similar to the MANY that hit last year. . . my gamble is that one of those hits before the big China devaluation scare. . . which is the next big shoe to drop. . . though the media is still fixed on the mid-October Fed meeting, which doesn't worry me, unless they raise more than 25 points.

So I am bullish on brokerage stocks. . .from their YTD lows. . .

The contrarian motto:

We buy when others sell. . .we sell when others buy. . . thats why we make money, while others make whine. [sic]
