Chairman of Cipla Ltd. Y.K.Hamied informed shareholders of the company at the company?s annual general meeting that the performance of the company during April-August, 1999 was encouraging. Sales for the first months are exceeding Rs3.35bn an increase of over 20% against last year?s sales. This was achieved due to increased exports. The sales target for the current year is Rs7bn with exports contributing Rs1.5bn. The company is aggressively filling registrations for abbreviated new drug applications (ANDAs) in the high end market of US and Europe. This comment pushed Cipla?s shares price up. Cipla closed at Rs2786 up Rs53.

Despite the odds, backward Bellary may back Sonia

Here is a contradictory report, then again one is based on a survey the other an opinion,who is going to be right, who knows.


It is not contradictory, Mohan. The article clearly says that Sushma
and BJP has done more work, and implies that the odds favour Sushma, and then hedges by saying the backwardness of the electorate will give Sonia the seat.

Bellary had 65% polling, which is high. I don't know to whose advantage that will be.
