RFMD -- just received the email with the following information:

RF Micro Devices & Xilinx

siliconinvestor.com

Edward Hemmelgarn of Shaker Investments (216-921-2950),
provides the following stock ideas on RF Micro Devices
(RFMD 43 7/8) and Xilinx (XLNX 70 3/4). Below is the
write up.

RF Micro Devices is what you, could call a "stellar
performer." Their stock has zoomed from a low of $3 a
year ago, to a high of $44 recently. They are the market
leader in power amplifiers for cellular phones. These
amplifiers allow a cellular handset to be more efficient
and have a longer battery life.

"RF is selling to everyone and has a significant portion
of the market," says Edward Hemmelgarn of Shaker
Investments. "Their largest customer is Nokia, which has
a competitive advantage over other cellular makers. The
cellular handset market is growing 50% a year. Because RF
has better and cheaper products, they are able to get more
than their share of the market." He thinks they can expand
their margins as they better utilize their existing
facilities. He thinks they will "substantially beat" current
earnings estimates, with their stock appreciating 30% to 50%
sometime within the next year.

Another company Edward likes is Xilinx. They are the
largest maker of programmable logic devices. He explains
that historically, programmable logic devices have grown at
30% to 35% a year and are growing faster than the overall
industry. "One of the things happening lately is a new
function called Internet Reconfigurable Logic (IRL) devices.
Once installed in a piece of equipment these devices can be
reprogrammed over the Internet. IRL devices will save both
time and money because a technician does not have to
physically go to a site and change or reprogram a circuit.
This innovation will drive the programmable logic device
market over the next five to ten years."

Edward believes that Xilinx will be able to grow revenues
in excess of 40% annually, during the next three to four
years. Hemmelgarn figures that Xilinx will earn $1.44 for
fiscal year ending in March of 00' and $2 in 01' compared to
estimated earnings of $1.34 and $1.71 respectively. He thinks
their shares will move much higher within the next year.

QW; FVCX having a strong day; hit $10; now, consolidating; still + .19 @ 9.88 on 280k shares;

with less than 3M shares, a short squeeze could inflict blinding pain; looks like it could run once it stays above $10; like it; sw
