Joan -- almost to the end of responding to all the kind words sent my way today. This seems next to last, if my luck holds.

I plead guilty of accusing you of obfuscation. With regard to the original argument - still do. We disagree. So what?

The passage quoted in the msg I'm responding to was preceded by a clearly labeled WAG about your background. From your earlier comments in the evening about how journalists work I supposed you must have been one.

Hence, the 'picture' of journalists in a small bar late at night arguing, drinking and sometimes wanting to fight. I assumed from your previous chatter that you were a member of that fraternity. Thought maybe you'd been there. I was wrong.

Please note that NOWHERE did I say ONE WORD about being drunk at the time of our argument -- only that it reminded me of arguments between journalists after hours. For not noting that distinction, I give you an "F" for reporting that story.

Your comment, "Yeah, I figured you were drunk. But I was too polite to say so." implied that you had evidence of me being drunk or that I had admitted being drunk. So excuse me for being offended. As I said before, I hate sloppy arguments -- you can add sloppy reporting.

The fact that you patted yourself on the back for being "too polite to say so," while actually saying so was.....come on, Joan, I'm sure there's a Latin word for it.

I hope you understand that I mentioned this subject in a recap of my contributions here for CB's consideration. I was not trying to open an old wound. As far I'm concerned it is finished (not trying to take away your right to unfinish it, of course).

Mike
