DRBES Re << However, much as I hate to admit it, hiS sources are frequently correct>>

It is however important to putt the rumors into perspective. A bad batch due to copper contamination could be a huge problem or have already been 100% taken care off. Bad batch due to copper contamination is all he said that came from his sources.

He is still holding so he must not think of it as much.

DRBES,

Re:"Copper problems"

I have a lot of respect for Pauls sources and it seems very credible to me.

Having said that it looks like they are gonna ramp some k6-3's at dresden first to shake things out.

This leaves plenty of capacity for the 1M+ Athlons from Fab 25.

I expect to see plenty of K6's and K7s and maybe shortage of K6-3s until dresden is ramped.

I still expect terrible Q3 numbers but Q4 should be profitable unless K7 ASPS just get trashed.

Also the fact that Intel failed to show any coppermine benchmarks vs PIII leads to me to believe the new core sucks and offers no higher performance than PIII. Which is great news allround.

Just my thoughts.

regards,

Kash

drbes,

I agree with Mani, "You need to put the rumors in perspective".

What do you make of the (copper contamination) rumors with respect to the departure of the FAB manager at dresden a few weeks ago.

Any correlation?
