Danny - thanks for the comment - I've been trying to defend the RBAK story from the short-spammers on this thread. From the little I know compared to you, it is my understanding that RBAK has a breakthrough product that is quite compelling. Have a great weekend.

Dan, being a Redback employee, you're probably aware of the significant decline in sales to UUnet from about $3 million in Q1/99 (43% of total revenue), to less than $1 MM in Q2 (<10%). Perhaps you can shed some light on this troubling issue. Was UUnet unhappy with RBAK's only product? Were there technical concerns such as incompatibility with the rest of the network?

Luckily for your company, UUnet's decision to cut back significantly was made known to management early enough in the quarter and allowed RBAK to place several systems with new customers. Can you imagine what could have happened to the company and its stock if RBAK didn't have time to react?

I'd appreciate your response.

Regards,

Tom

I can only smile at the complete lack of understanding that the shorts have about Redback and it's business.

Dan if RBAK is so great, how come it does not own any patent. Bottom line, RBAK has no proprietary technology. It's weird that a $5 B market cap hi-tech company has ZERO patent.

1 product + 0 patent = no entry barrier.

Regards,

Tom

Dan, below is from DJ on Sept 2, it's the first time I see an accurate description of what RBAK does. RBAK is a software company, not a hardware company.

Hayward also likes Redback Networks Inc. (RBAK), a provider of
networking software that enables carriers, cable multiple systems operators
and service providers....

Tom
