Just read through the last beige book, and it seems clear that some work is not getting done because it is hard to get the people for it. Whether this is the explanation for the nonfarm payroll number is another question; I suspect it played only a small role. I do expect wage (and eventually product) inflation to start showing up in the numbers if things don't change; 50 bps alone aren't going to do it. -mb
