Hi goldsnow,

Re: But the probes could also embarrass European leaders such as French President Jacques Chirac, who advocated continued financial aid to Moscow and lent strong personal support to Yeltsin despite growing reports of corruption, money laundering and economic mismanagement.

Fat chance! The French don't share this 'how-did-you-waste-taxpayers'money' craze with Americans. Besides, France's foreign policy is usually not an issue in domestic electoral campaigns: don't expect to hear the Socialist candidate running down a Conservative opponent on any foreign affair topic --except Europe (the euro, the French-German relationship, and EU Commission's shenanigans. Whether you hint at Africa, Maghreb (Algeria, e.g.), Arab countries in general, or even Israel, the French are habitually packing behind the President de la Republique's viewpoint.

As you said, this high-level laundering scam will prove far more damaging for Al Gore --the W Bush lobby's currently handling a superb cleansing operation.... JFK Jr's been crossed off, VP Gore's sullied through his lenient Kremlin sympathy, who's left?? Ross Perot? LOL!
