I've already explained my thinking. Taiwan should be defended by the Taiwanese. The same arguments you're making now were made regarding Laos and Cambodia. They fell, and nothing that's happened there has affected our daily lives here. We sent men to fight (and if need be) die in places like Iraq, and Kosovo. You see any large Taiwanese contingent fighting shoulder to shoulder with us???? Now way, they couldn't care less. The people of Nigeria haven't been "free" for decades. Why aren't you pounding the drums for a Nigerian invasion? Shouldn't we set about freeing all the world's peoples???

What double standards do I have for the word "freedom"? I can't find the post where I defined this. I'm for American freedom. Your argument was called the "domino theory" during the Vietnam era. If Vietnam (and neighbors) go, then next will be Japan, the Phillipines, Singapore, etc. until the Asian hordes show up in Seattle. Didn't happen. But 50,000 men died for this "theory." How many more would you like to die defending two bit islands of no historic, military, economic or strategic importance to the U.S.? Apparently, you'd sacrifice us all so that the Formosans can continue on their merry way while American makes all the sacrifices. Now that is dangerous.
