If I meant that by "biological mother," I don't know it. It just struck me as a comically irrelevant way to express incredulity.

You were lucky to establish a close friendship with your mother. Saying that you both "worked like hell to do it" is amazing to me. She worked like hell, too? Wow. Not my mother, the Queen of the Universe.

Interesting. WHAT mother/daughter "trauma"? Never experienced it, so I guess I am even luckier than you. I never had the slightest dispute with my mother, even though I was always something of a curmudgeon. But she had a very sunny, very easygoing nature. I miss her dreadfully.
