If you use a small footprint app, you will need half the computer. I have been following the Sun thread as well as this thread. Both of the posters are being very unrealistic. Giving away free competition over the Internet is very dangerous for MSFT. To deny it is inviting defeat. Remember, that is how MSFT got to the top position in productivity apps, by offering inferior apps that had easier access (bundling things like access and Powerpoint into Word and Excel), then improving the quality of the apps after market acceptance.

The Sun crowd thinks this is going to be a slam dunk, eventhough Sun has never come close to succeeding in consumer and low desktops, ever.

Reality is somewhere in between.
