A more likely scenario is that QCOM sells its production facilities to a contract manufacturer and contrats out the production. (This is what ERICY did to some of its production, I believe). This leaves them in control of R&D and design and eliminates inventory. I believe but cannot confirm that this is why AAPL claims to have only one day inventory - even though they are not essentially a build to order shop.

This is what DELL does with most of its components.

A spin out would likely help the stock, IMHO. Also a successful rollout by GSTRF will help. Anyone know the start up date.
