Hey Gator,

I was told by NUEP that that Mexico bid was something that happened while the former CEO was there... Looks like Gemplus picked it up after he left... Not sure to what extent NEUP remains involved in the project.

I don't know the status of the VISA agreement, but the patents NUEP owns are supposed to cover any and all smartcard transactions. It's withstood legal challenges in court, so they stand to reap a bundle... Almost sounds too good to be true, huh? That's the scary part... I've learned that when things seem too good to be true, they usually aren't... Hmmmm.........

I was given a name to call on Tuesday. Supposedly this guy can answer all of the detailed questions I have regarding NUEP. The guy I talked to mentioned that they are really close to finishing the reorganization with NewCo. Not sure if that is good or bad. One thing that keeps bugging me is, if NUEP held such promise and the stock price keeps falling, then why doesn't someone like Gemplus, VISA, or another banking giant just buy NUEP??? That's puzzling to me. And if smartcards have been in use for as long as they say, why hasn't NUEP had any profit yet? So many questions...

Anyhow, let me know if you have anything specific you'd like me to ask them, and I'll let you know what they tell me on Tuesday.

C'ya,
HiGuy
