Ike, whilst I embrace the internet and what it brings, I am rather perplexed by the euphoric outlook that forward thinking people seem to believe it provides.

Disregarding the current hype, what I see is a large number of bricks and mortar retailers with eroding margins & increasing expenses as they compete with the pure e-tailors. In turn, many of the e-tailors have business models which are very unlikely to work ... but because of the appetite of the investing public, these entities flourish by securing hot venture capital, going public, offering secondaries ... in a spiral which looks far from healthy to me.

What am I missing ???. It looks like the internet e-tailors are ushering in a new era ... but that era is based on a false premise of unprofitable business models. So how does it resolve ??. I don't know ... but there does appear to be an undermining of sound business models ... and how can that be good ??.
