While I agree that many people would prefer less government intervention, when they need help, the need for a strong government becopmes apparent. Having just been through Hurricane/Tropical Storm/Tropical Depresson Dennis, I can tell you that even in an area where people often decry the government and taxes, those same people are welcoming the disaster assistance that is being provided by the same taxes they'd rather not pay.
