Rocky, re: "The saddest part is, Beethoven's 9th right now is probably being listened to somewhere on a $50 jambox with one blown speaker."

How right you are! Garth Brooks may have sold more CDs but Beethoven created far better music. IMHO, Arnold S. was righter still when he chose his favorite composer by saying "I'll be Bach!"

Here's hoping that the "next generation" gets to hear the classics on something better than an MP3 player. But unless good taste becomes popular again, the "Spice Girls Revival Album" could be next year's MP3 best-seller.

PS When I got my first "really good" headphones, I was tempted to return them after playing Eric Clapton's "Plugged" CD. There was this annoying thumping sound that I had never heard before. But after a while I realized that it was just the sound of Eric's foot tapping on the stage floor as he played.
