If Sony incorporates two different flash memory configurations into their cameras, just to make sure they have enough capacity for those who need the extra capacity, then they are certainly wasting space and money and will end up being less competitive. Olympus has designed its latest high end camera with provisions for both SmartMedia and CF, but the reason appears to be that Olympus knows the limitation of SmartMedia and needs to accommodate CF, which is the product of choice for higher resolution systems.
