(another false on topic - BBQ'ing & Food) Zeev, ok and yes my last post had nothing to do with gold or its price. Eventhought this is an off topic post, it is ok for you to sneak in a thought about next week tuesday open of the stock market and also any one-liners or just one-worders on Y2K and gold. Since this is a off topic post, anything you say cannot and will not be held against you. Might it be possible to modify the old type grills that you place a bunch of charcoal pieces into it and improve and also make it safer to use. I realize the end result is whats important for those with stomacks growling, but I for one see a gas burning as very uninspiring compared to a wood camp fire in the beauty and wildness of the flames, and at fires end to appear those red glowing dark pieces of char'ed wood to continue a wonderful sight. No surprise that I take time and care in doing BBQ the old way of coals made from organic trees, and as it drives mad ones present for only eating, they drive me mad when they are the cooks, as follows: - let fat dripping burn up in flame and engulf meat - uneven heat spread under meats - too much fat flame-ups unsafe <<...the coal becomes a radiator in the infrared which...>> So I wonder if a transparent like glass sheet could be placed between the meat and hot coals to let one view the coals and this sheet would have holes drilled thru to let dripping fall down onto coals and let the resulting smoke flavor rise back up the holes to touch the meat, while at same time the tall flames will be redirected mostly to the edges of the sheet thereby preventing the meat to catch fire and then jump onto the cooks cloths that is trying to put out the fire. Using above a plate of something like high temperature_ability glass would prevent those hot areas from the flaming oil a burning, and if the glass like sheet does not absorb the infrared then maybe a more even and controlled heat delivery system might result. I just see this holed glass plate with 4 legs being able to simply be sat into existing old BBQ coal grills. Doug
