Certainly I would not use such terms to characterize you...Now, you are talking less about fun than about minding one's business. I don't know how everyone on my street votes, although I do know, from being an election judge, that most of them are registered Republicans, and none of them are such busy- bodies. Maybe it was Connecticut? I also know that in Takoma Park, where one of my brothers lives, there is a lot of left- wing busy- bodyism, but then it is a quasi- hippy enclave...As I said, I can't swear to the validity of Mailer's observations, but it cuts against the assumption that conservatives are uptight, so I thought it worth mentioning.
