My original Question: Is a negative analysis any more or less true if the person is short, is neutral or is long?

Your Answer: The answer to your question is obviously YES! If a long hypes a stock or a short is negative on a stock, I can figure out their motivation and take the post with a grain of salt. Also, if a long gives a negative comment, I am more apt to believe them than I would a short with negative comments.

I disagree completely. Rather than judge the motivations of the poster, I'd much rather focus on the content of the post. Sure it's more likely that shorts will post negative info and analysis and that longs will do the opposite. After all, that's probably why they're short/long. They're stock position affects neither the truth of their facts nor the incisiveness of their analysis. They may be wrong, of course, as anyone can be, and if they are consistently wrong I'll stop reading them, but I think you are being short sighted in judging posts by motive.

Afterall, most of the positive information on this thread comes from longs. Do you disregard it because it's "tainted" somehow. Of course you don't. I'd encourage you to pay better attention to the shorts and the cautious. That's where the first posts pointing out signs of weakness are likely to come from.

I'm long, very long, and my time horizon is measured in years. I'm going to keep my money where it is until the Q strays from the magnificent plan they have layed out. Just thought I'd tell you so you could judge the merits of my post <g>.
