With all the talk of dwindling margins in the handset business, it is important to remember that handsets, while accounting for 45% of revenues, only account for 15% of earnings. Chips and royalties are the driving force of the Q's earnings. This is why a sale of the handset business would be greeted favorably by wall street.

Does anyone believe Q's claim that its eps growth is hampered by handset price erosion and parts shortage? I don't. I think that's bullshit. These factors did not hamper Q's performance of past quarters. Neither did it to MOT and NOKA's performance. No logic here.
