Several of the advertisers on SI compete with SI at one level or another. A possibility with all of them is an ad trade. I notice that a banner for Stockgroup appears on some of the non-protected pages (news, portfolio, etc.) of SI. Magazines often trade ads with others that appeal to the same market, adjusting the size or frequency of the ads to account for rates in the two.

On another issue... There's an example of ugly message boards at Stockgroup. They use the same grays as SI, and even a similar blue color, ramped a few degrees darker. One can appreciate the simplicity of the SI design when seeing something as cluttered as this place.

Those complaining about the security risk of SI's cookies would be really freaked out by this site which puts the IP address of the author on every message. It's not much danger (or much use) for folks using dial-up connections, but anyone with a semi-permanent IP address from a broadband connection would do well to think twice before posting there.
