f - Re: "IMHO there was a perception that the internet was leaving Intel behind. "

Possibly - of course, the same thing was said about Microsoft in late 1995 - after their Windows 95 launch. Since then, Microsoft turned the whole company's focus to the internet.

Intel, as you note, is doing the same thing but it is a much slower evolution.

Re: "Andy and Craig don't look too internet-hip. But they ARE, and so is Intel. "

Intel never was - and probably never will be - considered "hip" - not like an Apple Computer or Netscape (was).

Re: "The steps that Intel has taken in the last few weeks to become and stay a major player in the internet are leading to higher PE's for the company. Companies that are perceived to be survivors and thrivers in the net's future are getting and will continue to get higher PE's."

This will be an evolutionary change - happening slowly at first, then picking up steam.
