Eric L: Hey. You really know how to scare a guy. Are you saying that even if Nextwave wins it all, that the "powers that be" may "persuade" Nextwave to abandon CDMA as the basis for its nationwide data wholesale rollout or that the whole Nextwave system may be splintered into many different technologies and systems?

Is this what you mean in your comment:

"Vendor financing and politics will play every bit as big a part in the 3G technology decision as the technology itself."

Or are you simply saying that 3G will be a political and vendor battlefield in general (and the Nextwave may be caught up in that).

Thought Nextwave would start with CDMA One and move from there, seems that you think that "ain't necessarily so".

If Nextel or some other non CDMAers take the frequencies then CDMA loses of course. But Nextwave?

Do you have any evidence that CDMA will not rpt not be used by Nextwave, or just that vendor financing and politics (powerful stuff of course) will lure it away?

Yes, and the technology itself will play a big part of vendor financing. Who will want to finance a wireless network that is becoming increasingly disadvantaged? Change does take time and the time of vendor financing for TDMA based networks is coming to an end.
