That's the domino theory again, and it was made when Russia invaded Afghanistan as good reason for us to unleash a nuclear Winter, where the only survivors would be cockroaches and perhaps some Taiwanese wind up toys. So, as I recall it, after Afghanistan was invaded, Pakistan, Iran, Iraq, India, Bangladesh and Indonesia fell to the Russian Commies. Not!!! Every other situation we talk of involves a foreign colonizing aggressor (such as China vs. Japan). The Taiwanese and the PRC are not foreign to each other--they are the same people involved in what is essentially a domestic dispute. The US was wrong ever to stake its reputation on this island of ingrates; why perpetuate the error?
