IRID was bad science and bad business from day one.
The real question is can any satellite phone system work.
GSTRF satellite phone system is completely different from IRID.

Anyone shorting GSTRF should be aware that just the fact
GSTRF is a CDMA based system can be the difference between
success and failure. If you doubt CDMA, just ask ATT what
they are going to do when Sprint PCS rolls out a nationwide wireless
internet portal with Yahoo, very soon.(only cause Sprint PCS is CDMA,
while ATT is stuck with TDMA & analog equipment that is obsolete.
