This morning there are 8 listings on pricewatch for the Athlon 650. But that may be very recent, I haven't looked there in a while. I agree that visibility of the high speed grades is very important.

My guess on the whole current situation is that everyone has been amazed at how well the Athlon has turned out, and amazed at the volume at this stage of production. Especially AMD! They clearly weren't ready to start selling the Athlons they've been producing - so I doubt they were expecting their current success. And I think Intel was pretty stunned too. Intel has also had to deal with the surprise of rambus being in an unexpected mess.

This is probably what happened with Atiq Raz - when fast Athlons at decent yields and good binsplits started coming out of production, Sanders insisted on pushing them out the door, while Raz wanted to wait until the rest of the pieces were in place.

Sanders may have been focused on achieving just that visibility that you referred to. And time may prove him right.
