In the news release of Aug.30 Check Point announced the release of VPNSecureClient which I understand is an updated and improved version of VPNSecureREmote.
There were 10 mil copies of VPN Secure Remote which were distributed for free so far in 1999.
Now they are going to charge $50 per copy of VPN Secure Client. I wonder if people would be upgrading from VPN Secure Remote to VPN Secure Client. 10 mil copies at $50 a copy would be $500mil, that is about 2.5 times the yearly revenue of Check Point. So here is a tremendous potential for further growth just from this product.
Can somebody comment on the differences between VPN Secure Client and VPN SecureRemote and whether the users will be likely to upgrade?
