Right now there are few pure B2B plays, VERT is one and ICGE(B2B company incubator) is another.

While several companies are building online exchanges devoted to single industries, one company is
busy staking out hundreds of industries.

VerticalNet of Horsham, Pa., has built or acquired 43 industry-specific trading communities since 1995. It is
also expected to launch at least seven more by year's end, thanks in part to cash raised in a February initial
public offering.

Although sites like Paint and Coatings Online or Test and Measurement Online may sound mundane, they
represent a golden opportunity, according to company president Mark Walsh. "Business-to-business still
remains the ugly, unsexy stepchild of e-commerce, but we're where the money is," he says.
