Eric- Thanks for those sobering references on both the viability of GSM/TDMA for global roaming and data, using EDGE, and the rationale of the FCC on the Nextwave case. We haven't had enough discussion of the on going risks of the viability of TDMA/GSM in the short run while we have been starry eyed about Q's successes in 3G. Should be an interesting horse race and I hope we can keep an eye out for ATT's, SBC's, PacBell's and Bell South's intentions. I for one incorrectly interpreted Irwin Jacob's confidence on the advantages of the CDMA 1Xrate deployment over Edge, which was primarily on technical and cost grounds, as sufficient to vanquish the installed base advantages of the TDMA/GSM group for how they should deploy data. Looks like it was a mistake. In other words, there is an "end game" and it matters. Tom
