Suppose that you fired a gun into a person whose status was unclear, he might have been dead or alive. Given the reasonable doubt, what would be the moral status of your actions?...By the way, by the end of the first trimester, there is no doubt that the fetus is human, and by the end of the second trimester, there is no doubt about viability. Are you willing to draw any sort of line?

Lather, thanks for having the courage to voice you pov on this matter. BTW have you ever read "Angela's Ashes" by Frank McCourt? Its an autobiographical tale of the authors childhood in Ireland, written from a child's perspective, where he was raised in severe poverty by his mother Angela.... they lived on charity from the local parish but were humiliated by the church. Its quite fascinating and was on the bestseller list for a year or so, McCourt has a new novel coming about his teenage years in the US, I'll probably read that one when it comes out.
