They certainly will be. The first 3G networks in Europe will I suspect be UMTS (evolved GSM with a W-CDMA air interface). You may call that a CDMA network. I do not.

If Qualcomm gets the usual royalty then it is a CDMA network, in my book! And if it has a W-CDMA air interface, then the Q gets the royalty! Why is that not a CDMA network in your book?

The rollout starts next year in Japan and Europe will start in 2001. Finland is lined up to be the first European wireless market to convert.

If you apply Gilder theory that supply creates demand, things are going to happen much faster than you think.
