Steven, Hi!!! RE: Kemble....I've been reading this new acronym a lot lately...."WINTEL/DELL"...seems like DELL is being recognized for the force they are...and are growing into. Your vision of DELL being the next DELL seems to be right on track...thanks to their unbeatable business model, and great management. Great post Steven from over at SUNW...I just got finished recording the DELLCONNECT conference of August 25...Some of the opening statements from Michael are quite profound...I know folks have "criticized" him for his lack of animation..well, they had better read between the lines on a few of those statements..Below is an article that previously was posted which briefs his opening remarks: MICHAEL DELL SAYS ONLINE SALES REPRESENT A FRACTION OF INTERNET'S MASSIVE BUSINESS POTENTIAL AUSTIN, Texas, Aug. 25, 1999 -- The chairman and chief executive officer of Dell Computer Corporation (Nasdaq: DELL) said today that, when it comes to the Internet, most business leaders fret too narrowly about online selling alone, and may be driving their companies "down a fast path to obsolescence." Michael Dell, speaking at DirectConnect, Dell's global customer conference, urged businesses to better understand and exploit the enormous benefits of the Internet throughout their operations. "The Internet must become your business," he said. "The use of the Internet throughout the business will be what ultimately distinguishes successful firms in all industries." Citing examples of how Dell Computer has automated its supplier network, internal operations, and sales and service functions, Mr. Dell offered his own company as a powerful illustration of how the Internet "will be the business." "In the future, there will be no distinction between 'dot-com' and traditional businesses, just winners and losers," Mr. Dell told the audience of more than 1,200 Dell customers. "Internet strategies that focus on speed, efficiency and customer experience will mark the winners. "Information can no longer be guarded like the crown jewels of your business. It must be shared with customers and suppliers, over the Internet, as a powerful source of differentiation. Businesses that don't provide better information, faster to customers, in a way that makes it easy to use, will quickly lose their advantage." Steve...what was interesting to hear (or not) was the silence from the audience when DELL was introducing the new WEB ideas for service and support...I have been told that folks were "stunned at what DELL will be doing in the immediate future"...The speed of service that Michael alluded to at Chelsea Pier in June has been unveiled...DELL is light years ahead of the others when it comes to developing relationships...Just as a friend of mine told me the other week (works for IBM service division)..."Kemble, DELL could teach IBM quite a bit when it comes to service." And, then the statement that drives my confidence even higher: "Kemble, you're correct...what most folks haven't figured out yet is DELL is just getting started in here." tm 7/99 Gotta believe the guy that does the numbers must know a thing or two huh? :o) BUY MORE DELL...They're conquering the world Best, Kemble
