Re: See what Barrett & Co are reading at Intel:

I got a kick out of what AMD employees are reading:

#2: The Indispensable PC Hardware Book : Your Hardware Questions Answered <-- Good to know how PCs work when you're designing microprocessors for them!

#5: The Motley Fool's Rule Breakers, Rule Makers : The Foolish Guide to Picking Stocks <-- I wonder why they need to know about stocks other than AMD? :-)

#8: Inside Intel; Andrew Grove and the Rise of the World's Most Powerful Chip Company <-- No problem here - it's always smart to know your competition.

#9: Cryptonomicon <-- This is a loooong (but good) book - hard to understand how those hard-working AMD employees have enough time to read this monster. But the author (Neal Stephenson) seems to have a masturbation fetish (the characters seem to constantly be doing it or thinking about it), so maybe that's the appeal to them. :-)

#10: Sugar Busters! : Cut Sugar to Trim Fat <-- I'm in total agreement on this one!

Meanwhile, while you're looking at Amazon's Purchase Circle for Intel Corp:

amazon.com

you might want to check out what the Purchase Circle looks like for Advanced Micro Devices, Inc:

amazon.com

Some of the more interesting books being purchased by AMD are:

- ISA System Architecture (Why ISA? You don't get much more legacy than this, and even Intel is moving away from ISA. And this was #3 on the AMD list!)

- The Motley Fool's Rule Breakers, Rule Makers : The Foolish Guide to Picking Stocks (Funny how Motley Fool always recommends Intel as a top pick for semiconductors. Of course, employees at Intel don't need The Motley Fool to tell them about this. Last week, this was a common phrase overheard across cubicles: "My, do you see how high our stock price is today?")

- Inside Intel; Andrew Grove and the Rise of the World's Most Powerful Chip Company (Actually this is no surprise.)
