I didn't read all the posts here so I didn't see the racism angle. I was commenting on the earlier point of orphanage vs. "cease to exist", and neither option being preferable in all cases. I just thought that Frank McCourt book was interesting because here you have a society with vast numbers of suffering children... and the church proliferating this misery... Thanks for your support, C, but I really think you might be taking these political threads too personally. You might want to check out some of the stock threads and others to see how the sensibilities of these guys fit in with the "norm"... I disagree a little with whoever said there are less than 10% liberals on SI. I think there are a lot more than that but they are on the stock threads, and as I say maybe the feelings thread.
