I don't know of single company that would be willing to implement that kind of strategy for their programs deployment. They give up too much control and security. Imagine trying to get out a critical report and your internet connection goes down or a site goes off line. Mission critical application as simply not going to be deployed that way. It is one thing to have an application site on your own companies server, but no way do you give up that kind of control and security to a third party.

It is similar to the story a few years ago when distributed networked system were suppose to replace all mainframe computers. Mainframes were supposed to go the way of the dinosaurs. The reality was that distributed system were too difficult to maintain easily and any supposed cost savings never appeared. The result has been that companies have gone back to a combination of the two systems. A mainframe keeps track of the all the data and local networks maintain local mirrors of the data so they can keep working if the mainframe is down for any reason.

I saw a few misspelled words in my previous post. When you edit your post and make a spelling error, SI doesn't highlight it when you re-submit. I wonder if the new site does. If it doesn't, maybe I should mention it to Brad.
