A recently IPOed up and comer that I like:

Nasdaq: STAD biz.yahoo.com

T is the primary partner (promoter) of this company. I personally am a 'student advantage' member and can attest to the quality discounts and information I've received from them. Got 15% off on my Amtrak tickets to and from Seattle during spring break. Also have been spending a lot of time lately at their website. studentadvantage.com Have read their quarterly magazine from cover to cover. Tons of great info for college students, and well presented too IMO (entertaining structure and pertinent subject matter).

Not sure how much earnings can be generated from a services company like this one... but I am positive that traffic and talk about them among my peers is definitely increasing. They offer a membership card which entitles you to thousands of discounts at various retailers on and off campus across the country, as well as on the web (CDNOW being one of the most notable). The membership card can also double as an AT&T calling card as well if desired (T will cover costs of annual membership if enrolled, a value of $19.95/year).

News on the stock has been stellar IMO. Many strategic partnerships with big established companies. Buy ratings issued by many different brokers after the QP ended. Share price is off its highs and nearing support. Will be interesting to see where it goes from here. Float is relatively small at approx 6 mil. Very little short interest.

Disclosure: No current position in STAD
