Ride a taxi and surf the internet
San Francisco--Taxi customers stuck in city traffic can pass the time surfing the Web if they catch a cab equipped with a laptop under a venture sponsored by Yahoo Inc and several other high tech companies.
The first of nine laptop-equipped Luxor Cab Co. taxis was unveiled Thursday. The rest will hit the hilly streets of San Francisco over the next two weeks.
The internet ready taxis won't be hard to miss--they're wrapped bumper-to-bumper in purple Yahoo company logo. Inside, passengers can connect to the Web at no extra charge, using NEC laptops and wireless modems provided by Ricochet.
