correction needed (sorry):

In the last sentence of 'Definition #3a)' it should be:
'that has been won >>since<< the last year' (namely in the Hesse elections on 9 Feb '99, in which the CDU contender R.Koch toppled the SPD president H.Eichel, [who was later promoted to become federal minister of finance, replacing the aforementioned Lafontaine], largely by using populist rhethorics against a change of the laws concerning German citizenship, keeping only a 'fine difference' from nationalist right-wingers 'Die Republikaner').

Addendum, enters at the same place:

The first chamber of the federal parliament was won by SPD and Greens who formed the coalition to support Chancellor Schroeder in September 1998. The second chamber had a SPD-majority since 1996 and has acted quite uncompromisingly in opposition to the late Chancellor Kohl.
