Tops List With Five-Year Revenue Growth of 9,925 Percent SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 10, 1999-- The fastest-growing technology companies in the region were recognized by Deloitte & Touche LLP at an awards banquet held September 9 at the Marriott's Laguna Cliffs Resort in Dana Point. Called the "1999 Orange Coast Technology Fast 50," the annual awards program ranks technology companies located in Orange and San Diego counties by revenue growth over a five year period.
Of the 50 companies honored this year, 28 were based in San Diego. The fastest growing company overall was Neurocrine Biosciences, Inc., with a five-year revenue growth of 9,925 percent. The company develops therapeutics for the treatment of diseases and disorders of the central nervous and immune systems, including anxiety, depression, Alzheimer's disease, obesity, and multiple sclerosis.

To be considered for the Fast 50 status, companies must produce a technology, manufacture a technology-related product, be technology intensive or use unique technology in problem-solving, and devote a high percentage of effort to research and development of technology. Additionally, companies must have been in business for a minimum of five years with 1994 revenues of at least $50,000.
The 1999 Orange Coast Technology Fast 50 program is presented by Deloitte & Touche and sponsored by A.G. Edwards & Sons, Bowne of Irvine, Brobeck Phleger & Harrison LLP, Imperial Bank, Marsh, Inc., and the Orange County NewsChannel, in association with the American Electronics Association, Biocom, California Manufacturing Technology Center, and the Life Science Industry Council.
