I was checking out laptop PC's. Toshiba and Sony models offered lithium ion battery (weight = 7.1 to 7.3 lb). The salesman said the battery would last for about 1.5 to 2 hours with CD ROM and hard disk spinning continuously and about 1 hour if the DVD player was used to play a movie. Responding to my question about a longer battery life, the salesman said that Toshiba distributor talked about a new battery coming soon. He did not remember the type of battery. My search came up with the following links but no sign of lithium polymer yet. Ram
