Very basic question on royalties: Do they go on indefinitely in the future for CDMA products, or is there some date certain (ie patent expiration) that they would end. I apologize for what is probably a question of ignorance to the high caliber discussion here.

Eric: I think the development is going to happen before the midpoint of the next decade. Meaningful revenue opportunities are beginning to present themselves in data right now. In fact, Sprint is on the verge of 2.5G as we speak right now.

With VOD entering into an agreement with BEL for national roaming, VOD is now in complete control of coverage zones effecting all of Europe and all of the US. I doubt that it will take them another 6 years to make the 2 systems compatible.

I trust that VOD will make the "right" economic decisions to enhance the performance of their systems. GSM, EDGE, and GPRS just suffered a huge blow. 3G will become an economic reality sooner rather than later.
