If you don't contribute to SS taxes then you don't collect. I had a rich relation who never worked in her life (and whose toughest decision ever was to sell some of her 10,000 Texaco shares when they got sued by Pennzoil), and she had to pay for private medical insurance until she died. Of course, she never needed social security in the first place; Medicare would have been nice though.
