DAMASCUS -- Syrian Minister of Finance Khaled Mahyni has denied reports that dropping gold prices have brought about a loss of about 545 million Syrian liras (US dollar equals 50 liras) in view of the circulation of about 25 tons of gold in the market.

Monday"s "Al Hayat" quoted Mahayni as saying Syria"s economic policy has abandoned the idea of expanding total reserves ever since the seventies, and has moved toward stable reserves.
